Jetty review:

The Henley Royal Regatta is an iconic landmark in the boat racing calendar.

I must admit it’s mainly for enthusiasts and for those whose families are participating or have participated in the past, none of which apply to me. However, I was kindly offered a ticket to the Stewards Enclosure (the very posh bit) after some friends couldn’t make it, and because I love all things British, I gladly accepted (NB:  Never be too proud to be a last minute stand in, you get to try all sorts of things you maybe wouldn’t ordinarily do).  I have been before, years ago, so kind of knew what to expect, and it lived up to those expectations.

I spent the afternoon with a ridiculously polite and very British crowd, but everything was just joyous and again the weather remained kind, but do bear in mind that it’s on the river, so take a jacket or a wrap.  I found it particularly interesting because the friends I was with are from the racing fraternity and were kind enough to educate me on some of the essentials of the day.

My recommendations:  Definitely give it a go if you’ve never been, soak up the atmosphere and enjoy People Watching (one of my favourite hobbies).
The Regatta Enclosure is open to the general public.  Tickets for 2023 will be available in the spring.
