Hampton Court is a beautiful and historical venue and this was my first visit; I wasn’t disappointed.
We had a thoroughly fabulous evening and the weather was mostly very kind until about 10 minutes before the end of the concert when it began to rain. Thankfully we had splashed the extra cash and had booked the ‘under cover’ section of the stands, so stayed dry, I recommend you do the same. Ball and Boe were their usual magnificent selves and it was a glorious night.
Options for the pre-concert picnic vary between taking your own, and forking out for a Fortnum & Mason’s hamper to collect on arrival, which was delicious and quite a treat as we arrived immediately from work. We recommend you get there early and enjoy the gorgeous surroundings although I’m sure it would be very different on a rainy summers night!
It’s by no means a cheap night out, but as a special treat, we would definitely recommend it.
