Jetty Review:

On a cold but bright April morning, a small group of us set off with our professional instructor and tried our luck at clay pigeon shooting.

Whilst this wasn’t the first time I’d handled a shotgun, I’d forgotten how hard the shot reverberates into your shoulder, so dress warmly and take advantage of the shoulder pad they offer!  The cost of our session included gun hire, hearing protection, public liability insurance, clays and cartridges.

We watched the instructor who then put us through our paces as we each had a go on at hitting the different targets across the course, and the walking kept us warm.

During refreshments afterwards, the banter was high and I’m sure I’m not the only one who dined out on my many ‘near misses’ and the occasional ‘crack shot’.

It was a lovely way to start a Sunday and whilst not cheap, there are lots of different price points depending on how much you want to shoot, gun hire and whether or not you need an instructor, but look to spend at least £100 per session.

If you get the bug, lessons are available where you can hire the full kit.

I’m certainly looking forward to going back sometime soon and trying to beat my personal best (can you have a personal best with just one on the record card 😊?!)
